Martha Tween

Leadership Coach

Martha sees the best in people. She helps her clients understand their strengths and how to leverage them. Believing that everyone is unique, Martha strengthens the natural talents of her clients, coaching them to reach their full potential and achieve goals they previously thought too difficult to reach. She helps leaders build complementary teams where the unique strengths of everyone shine.

She is an ICF certified coach. The Pareto Principle (the 80/20 rule) drives her coaching style as she believes that 20% of actions account for 80% of results—always connecting to strategy. She helps her clients discern which actions will help them make the most of their time and talents to increase their productivity and deliver outcomes.

Prior to joining Building Champions in 2021, Martha was founder and Director of DO Star Systems, a consulting firm operating in Latin America and the United States. She led teams to support organizations in leadership development, strategic direction and change management in the industries of banking, consumer goods, car part manufacturing, construction and others. Through her Talent Acquisition processes, companies reduced an average of 50% turnover rates within one year across her clients’ organizations. Also, she worked as a Lead Instructor and Mentor Coach for ICF associate and professional coach certification levels, earning a 100% credential success rate for all coach mentees she trained.

Martha held both a Client Partner and Consultant role with FranklinCovey in Guatemala where she grew an account from 21 to more than 2000 participants within five months. Afterwards, she worked for Grupo Entero, a holding multinational firm, as Vice-President of People, Culture and Organizational Development. She staffed and developed the Human Capital departments, generating strategies that attracted and retained top talent and promoted strong values and a healthy culture. She also sat on the board of directors for a variety of firms in Guatemala City and Latin America.

As a child she taught herself to speak English by carrying a notebook and jotting down English words. At age 18, Martha’s first job was a secretary position at the United States Embassy in Mexico. She then moved to Santiago, Chile where she worked as a secretary to the U.S. Ambassador. She also worked in Vienna, Austria in Commercial Services within the American Embassy and also at the UNO City (United Nations). There she learned to speak German fluently.

Martha earned a bachelor’s degree in Business with minors in Finance and Marketing from University Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala and holds a master’s degree in Organization Development from University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX. She is the proud mother of two adult sons, who she considers to be her masterpieces in life. Martha enjoys art, music, karaoke, spending time with family and friends, traveling, painting and singing in her church’s choir. She has lived in Mexico, Austria, Chile, Guatemala, Brazil, Peru and California. She currently resides in San Antonio, TX.
